A Family Personal Income Plan is designed to provide a monthly benefit that can be used by your family to cover everyday living expenses, childcare costs, or help to pay the mortgage, for example, if you die or are diagnosed with a terminal illness during the length of the policy.

Terminal Illness Cover could pay out the full amount of cover when life expectancy is less than 12 months. No terminal illness claim can be made after the death of the person insured.

The Terms and Conditions for making a Terminal Illness Claim have changed over time and you should always refer to your policy documents for information about your eligibility to make a claim.

A Family Personal Income Plan can be set up as a Single or Joint policy and is available with or without Critical Illness Cover. It has no cash value unless a valid claim has been made. At claim you or your family can choose to take the monthly benefit as a commuted lump sum, if you prefer.

Legal & General only sell the Family Personal Income Plan via a financial adviser.
